What this site does
audioranker presents fifteen head-to-head comparisons between audio plugins. Playing through means tapping one of three answers per pairing. Those answers feed an aggregated statistic. There is no sign-up, no user account and no request for personal details.
What is stored when you play
Each completed run stores one record with the following fields:
- a random identifier generated locally by your browser, not attributable to any person
- the identifier of the duel set you played
- the time of the run
- a boolean “mobile device yes/no”
- per duel: the answer given, the reaction time in milliseconds, and the position in the run
Neither individually nor in combination do these fields allow any conclusion about a specific person.
What is not stored
No IP addresses, no user-agent strings, no names, no email addresses and no device identifiers are written to the database. The mobile-device flag is derived from the browser identification at submission time and stored only as a boolean; the identification itself is discarded.
Legal basis and purpose
To the extent the fields described carry any personal reference at all, processing rests on our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. That interest lies in evaluating aggregated preferences for audio software and in operating the site securely. No profiling takes place and no data is combined with other sources.
Retention
Answer records are stored indefinitely, since the statistic rests on them. Deleting individual runs is not possible for lack of a personal reference — see “Your rights”.
Hosting
This website runs on Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. On every request Cloudflare processes technically necessary connection data, including your IP address, the time of access, the address requested and the browser identification. This processing is required to deliver the site and to defend against attacks. Transfer of personal data to the USA cannot be ruled out; Cloudflare commits to an adequate level of protection via standard contractual clauses. Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
The database holding the answer records is located in Western Europe.
No cookies, no tracking, no external resources
This site sets no cookies. No analytics, advertising or audience-measurement service is embedded. No fonts, scripts or images are loaded from third-party servers — the site uses only the system fonts already present on your device. Your browser therefore connects to no third party while you use it. For the same reason there is no consent banner.
During a run the random identifier is kept in your browser’s sessionStorage so the
result page can show your result. It is discarded as soon as you close the tab. This access to
your device is strictly necessary for the service you explicitly requested and therefore
exempt from consent under § 25(2)(2) TDDDG.
Advertising and affiliate links
This site currently carries no advertising and no affiliate links. Should commission-based links be added, they will be labelled as advertising and described here.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the rights of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). Please write to the address given in the imprint.
One honest caveat: the stored answer records deliberately contain nothing that would identify a person. We are therefore unable to link a run to whoever asks, and under Art. 11(2) GDPR we are not obliged to collect additional data solely to satisfy these rights. If you can tell us the identifier of your run — it appears in the address of your result page — we can delete that record.
Right to complain
You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority here is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany.
